Researchers should not be forced to ask themselves whether they are doing critical ethnography or narrative research. They should not feel that they must define their research identity based on such molds. Rather, researchers should feel free to examine a variety of modes, to mix and blend different methods in the long journey toward answering research questions. It has long been my conviction that the researcher\u2019s only requirement is to develop a good argument that can be substantiated. The researcher can follow many routes to obtain and present convincing evidence. It is up to the researcher to find the best and most imaginative ways to get a good argument across. Given that so many possibilities exist, dictating to researchers how to do research is patronizing. Guidelines should not discredit the complexity of research or dictate fixed paradigms.
